Closing Reception: October 1, 3-8:00 pm, video/sound performance “Inheritance” will begin at sunset.
The garden is open to the public 12-7 pm on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays except rainy days.

“Echoes in Harlem” takes as a starting point the theme of tangible or intangible traces left in the Harlem community through personal or historical experiences. Through site-specific artworks created for this exhibition by Morgen Christie, Sarah E.Brook, Linda Ganjian, and Yvonne Shortt, it explores the bridges between now and then using personal or communal points of view that resonate with the West Harlem Community Garden on 132nd Street or the Harlem community at large.

This garden is where I co-founded The Artist Gardener NYC (TAG) in 2021, and this exhibition is the first curated exhibition we programmed. TAG offers public programs like art exhibitions, concerts, workshops, guided tours, etc. across green space in NYC.

METAL

Exhibition Dates: September 9 - October 1, 2017
Location: Governors Island, NY, # 7B Nolan Park.

Awards juror: David C, Terry, of NYFA
Artists: Marc Bratman / Valerie Brochard / Marcy Chevali / Bruna D'Alessandro / Carole Halle / Lida Hamber / Markus Holtby / Eunjin Kim / Sean Landau / Haksul Lee / Geoffrey Owen Miller / Basha Ruth Nelson / Marco Palli / Chris Pietsch / Renata Pugh / Anna Kuchel Rabinowitz / Annesofie Sandal / Trudi Schleifer / Chuck von Schmidt / Ciara Stack / Anne Stanner

The exhibition ‘METAL’ explores the possibilities of the uses of metal in various art forms. When metal as a material was a theme of art shows, traditionally it has been a group of craft work or cast sculptures; the technique of metal fabrication and its beauty, durability and versatility have been greatly appreciated in art history. This exhibition showcases a range of approaches, from traditional to contemporary sculptures and installations. That's not necessarily about the technique or beautiful finish, but also about how artists are inspired by and interact with metal in their artistic practices and their everyday lives.
